When I was young I got tons of hand-me-downs from friends in our neighborhood. Sometimes I was happy and sometimes I was humiliated. We did not have a lot of money and that was a way of life in a small town in the 1960s. It took me a long time to appreciate what lessons I learned from that experience. It’s not always easy being on the receiving end when you’re in need. Pride does sometimes get in the way.
There is such an overabundance of materials in our world today and there are so many others that have so little. Let’s make the most of our belongings. Give your things a second life. There are others who are very much in need so why waste things that end up hurting the earth in the long run.
Don’t throw it away - give it away!
