Statistics do not have to have a negative message behind them. It’s all in the perspective in which we see them. If you look at this chart this could be a very sad statistic but what if we looked at it in a positive manner?
Even though I do not like the idea that there are so many animals that are without a home I see this statistic as something that could potentially help solve the problem. I live in Los Angeles and I’ll be the first to admit it’s a very crowded place so I can put the number of shelter animals in perspective. When I have visitors I constantly hear the comment “how can you live here? It’s so crowded”. As I lecture on the Equation of Persuasion™ one of the main elements is the ability to relate to information being presented to an audience. That connection helps a person make a decision they understand and can feel good about. It’s my ability to relate to these numbers and because I live in Los Angeles it has an impact on me.
Also by being aware of this information we will become aware of the fact that this problem could be resolved by more awareness on a national level. If we looked at the population of the U.S. the number does not look so bad and perhaps the shelter problem can be a thing of the past.
Sounds like a new chart to me!
